Kickers K/1, Juniors PRE-SEASON COACHES MEETING
LOCATION: Carlson Field
DATE/TIME: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM SATURDAY, September 11, 2010
PARTICIPANTS’ EXPECTATIONS:
Courses begin promptly at the designated time.
Coaches should bring a soccer ball, a water bottle and a notebook.
Coaches should come dressed looking like a coach and ready to
participate actively.
Being a good soccer coach is not an easy task. It takes more than just knowledge of the game or desire to work with children. It takes time and commitment to help learn the necessary skills and techniques to improve our performance as coaches. The Coach Instruction Programs offered by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) helps soccer organizations like ours to better train our coaches, which in turn benefits our children.
On September 11th, we are offering the G course. The G course is a 4-hour introductory course designed for coaching children at the U6, U8 and U10 level. Course content includes ideas about how to organize practices and game days, lots of practical activities and stimulating games for practices, and brief demonstrations of basic techniques. Coaches receive a MYSA “G” Manual and a Soccer Coach Training Package, and their “G” Coaching License.
The G Course is also available on-line. If you wish, you can sign up for the course at: http://www.massyouthcoachingcourse.org/
The G course is required in order to take the F Course, which HYS will hold later in the year. The F Course is an 8-hour introductory course for youth coaches at the U8, U10 and U12 level. Not only does it teach the basics such as how to run a practice, the proper way to kick a soccer ball, or how to coach the goalie; but it also teaches how to relate to children and encourage them to have fun and feel good about themselves.
How to sign up:
Please email to: Rthorne192@verizon.net your name, address, phone #, date of birth. [HYS will pay the course fee for the license. By signing up for the course you are committing to fully completing the required hours per course.]
Pre-Season coaches meeting:
Kickers K/1 and Junior Coaches will have their pre-season meeting following the G course. The Division Directors will explain the division guidelines and expectations, and each team will receive its equipment bag and uniforms.
Hingham Youth Soccer is looking for parents to support the program as referees. Our goal is to have an adult referee at each playing field. This position is open to anyone who is willing to attend the required classes and who is able to actively work a game. This position is a paid position. If you have any interest and would like more information, please contact David MacKay, Referee Coordinator at macs.place@comcast.net
